Hello, I am Nikki Beard, many of you will already know me but I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that my role in school has changed slightly.
As Child & Family Support here at West Rise Junior School, I am available to offer support to our families. As a parent myself, I know and understand that parenting is never easy! I can try to help you with any worries that you may have in relation to your child’s education, behaviour and wellbeing. I am also available as someone to talk to if you need it. Many of us have supportive friends and families but sometimes it’s just easier to have a cuppa and chat with someone that we don’t know quite so well.
Support for our families includes:
- providing information and signposting to other services in the local area
- assistance in completing paperwork and forms e.g. housing, special educational needs, school places and benefits
- attendance and support at school and other agency meetings
- advice and support in promoting positive behaviour at home
- guidance with career and personal development
Advice and support is confidential although concerns relating to the safeguarding of children will always be dealt with in accordance with the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. I can meet with you at home or in school at a time to suit yourself. I may not have all the answers, but hopefully I can help you to work out how to find them!
